BJT GUIDE
What is the BJT? Test format and study approach
The BJT Business Japanese Proficiency Test measures Japanese communication proficiency required in business settings. This page summarizes the format and connects you to practice tools in WHY BJT STUDY.
Three parts in a CBT test
The official BJT guide describes three parts: Listening Comprehension, Listening and Reading Comprehension, and Reading Comprehension. The exam is delivered as computer-based testing, so following audio and reading information in sequence matters.
Listening
Understand workplace speech and intent.
Listening-reading
Process audio together with visual information.
Reading
Read business messages and work materials.
Score and levels
BJT results are reported on a 0–800 score scale and evaluated across six levels from J5 to J1+. It is not a pass-or-fail exam. Use the official score and level information when setting your target.
A practical way to study
- 1
Build vocabulary
Learn business Japanese words with the situation and example, not only a translation.
- 2
Train each part
Rotate listening, listening-reading, and reading so one skill does not hide another.
- 3
Practice under time
Use CBT-style sets to keep moving with the audio and manage reading time.
- 4
Review the result
Check incorrect questions, explanations, and weak types after each session.
